Low Testosterone

What is Testosterone Therapy?

Testosterone is the naturally occurring male sex hormone. As men age their bodies decrease the production of testosterone in the body. With lowered testosterone in their bodies some men experience lower energy levels, lowered sex drive and natural lessening in muscle mass. In an effort to slow or reverse these effects some men have turned to testosterone replacement therapy. In recent years this market has exploded into a multi-billion dollar a year industry.  The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted approval to testosterone replacement drugs only when used by patients diagnosed with hypogonadism, as well as low testosterone levels. Today there are a wide verity of topical medication and transdermal patches. None of these medications are FDA-approved for individuals who do not suffer from underlying hormonal conditions.

Commonly used Low-T drugs include:

  • Androderm
  • Axirom

  • Striant
  • Testim
  • Testopel
